Riviera Yacht Support donates to the Antibes Lifeboat
This year, as part of the RYS Golf Bonanza we pledged to donate a portion of player registration fees to the Antibes Lifeboat.
We're thrilled to say that this resulted in a donation of €662 which Angus delivered to the Lifeboat crew recently. Lifeboat Cox Wladimir Herman said the funds will be used to replace towlines which are a crucial safety element to their rescue operations.
We're happy to support the Antibes Lifeboat, a valuable part of the yachting community.

The Best RYS Golf Bonanza yet! THANK YOU!
The 7th Riviera Yacht Support Golf Bonanza held last Friday at the Grande Bastide Golf Course was our biggest and best Golf Bonanza yet!
We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to everyone who attended and we were fortunate to see the sunshine this year after the soggy but fun day last year.
This year's event was a resounding success with 100 teeing off for golf, and 160 in total for the sit-down lunch and we're pleased to see such overwhelming interest already in next year's event.
We were thrilled to have Dockwalk as our official Media Partner (keep an eye out for the event write-up in the December edition of Dockwalk magazine) and to see Monaco Marine return as a Main (Championship) Sponsor.
Our Platinum Sponsor, CBAY, ensured everyone was treated to a delicious three-course lunch, and our Gold Sponsor, Riviera Gourmet, sponsored the Hole-in-One challenge that sadly was not conquered leaving the gleaming Mercedes SLC to remain a dream for next year.
The prize giving was well received with Best Team awarded to Rooster's Revenge, Best Gents prize going to James Hennigar from M/Y Kingdom 5KR, and Best Ladies prize was awarded to Gilly Theed.
The Best Gross Score on the day was claimed by Terry Allen, Longest Drive (Gents) went to Rory in the Colgans bunch and Longest Drive (Ladies) was picked up by Anna Lindell. Best Dressed Team was handed out to the diverse bunch of costumes and crew represented by M/Y Kingdom 5KR.
Twenty-eight golfers beat the Pro Jéremie Felenc and 20 managed to Hit the Floating Green - well done, we hope you enjoy your bottles of rosé courtesy of Riviera Wine.
Prize winners were treated to some fantastic goodies including two Club Class tickets and a weekend at a luxury hotel in London thanks to British Airways and Rinck Griffin Travel, paragliding vouchers from Monaco Marine, dinner vouchers kindly sponsored by Dockwalk, CBAY and DolphinWear, a hair and beauty voucher from HEM/Cathelco, Golf Bags from Hill Robinson, Double Magnums of Rosé from Elite and PADI Open Water Courses donated by Diamond Diving.
Every one of our Sponsors was appreciated and we had great feedback from So-sij's lovely English breakfast to Wild Group International's fun bar and the classy polo shirts from Dolphin Wear.
Next year, we will be implementing improvements to the course marshalls as we understand it was a long day for some of you!

End of Season Lunch at Monaco Yacht Show 2016
The annual 1000-metre Yacht Lunch was hosted by Riviera Yacht Support and Riviera Wine at the iconic Restaurant Quai des Artistes in Monaco on Friday 30th September.
Timed to coincide with Monaco Yacht Show, the festivities began with a champagne reception in the laid-back luxe of the outside bar beside Port Hercules, followed by a three-course lunch and wine to mark the end of another successful season.

The 6th Riviera Yacht Support Golf Bonanza started off with a BANG... of thunder and was accompanied by a truly Scottish downpour. Despite this, ninety-two brave souls took to the course and we ended up having the best BONANZA yet!

On Thursday the 16th of April, Monaco Marine La Ciotat played host to the third edition of our RIVIERA YACHT SUPPORT BBQ BONANZA!
With the scene set, and the mood right (thanks to BEER on tap courtesy of COLGAN'S the French Riviera's very own Brewery, chilled rose served by RIVIERA WINE, and a charcoal fired BBQ masterfully handled by Riviera Gourmet.) It was time to commence with a SUMO competition bar none.
Grudge matches and inter-yacht rivalry were put to the test with 16 yachts putting forward their top contenders to fight it out in the middle. These were knock-out matches (best of three) with the winner of each match progressing into the next round.
Amidst much cheering and no small amount of sledging (mostly from the Aussies) the field was narrowed down until there were only two. JAN, representing LADY LAU, and SAM representing HERCULINA. These two giants among men faced off against each other, touched knuckles and then waited for the signal to "SUUUUUUMO!"
Jan won the first round, and Sam the second. A false start on the third came to nothing and then these beasts faced each other for the final time. The excitement was palpable, and the burgers, beers and wine were more than palatable.
"SUUUMO!" came the command from Ulf on the microphone. After some vicious fighting in the middle, SAM from his very aptly named vessel was crowned the SUMO MASTER!
The evening didn't slow down there. The sumo suits saw plenty more action, as did the bar, bbq and the dance floor.

During the Master of Wine Awards Ceremony in London the 5th of November Louise Sydbeck (head of wine department at Riviera Yacht Support – now Riviera Wine) became the 100th women in the world to be awarded the most prestigious wine qualification available – Master of Wine. In addition to this qualification she also received the Bollinger Medal which is awarded to the candidate who has shown the most outstanding results in the three day blind tasting examination.
- I am so overwhelmed and relieved that I finally have achieved my goal of becoming a Master of Wine. I started on the program back in 2007 and it has indeed been a long journey. Already then I had a very profound knowledge of wine but as we supply the finest wines available to charter guests and yacht owners I felt there was a need to go further, I wanted to make sure that we were able to provide the highest quality of service and knowledge to our clients. I am now very happy to say that we are the only company in yachting that have a full time Master of Wine on our staff and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and passion!
Louise adds her name to the list of only 319 people who hold the Master of Wine qualification today. The Institute of Master's of Wine was established in 1953 and the qualification is one of the most rigorous and difficult to achieve with an extremely low pass rate. Nearly double this number of people have voyaged into space!
We offer the biggest congratulations to Louise for this incredible achievement! We've all known that she has been the Master of Wine for years, but to have the M.W at the end of her name is incredible. Well done Louise!
